Fluid Cross-Section — The Internal Anatomy of Melting Time

Fluid Cross-Section captures the moment when ice begins to lose its solidity and reveal its internal logic. Instead of presenting the frozen surface, these works expose what lies beneath: the unstable negotiations between water, pigment, pressure, and light. The melting process becomes a slow incision — a cross-section where matter thinks aloud.

Inside these translucent structures, pigment drifts like geological sediment.

Water expands and contracts, forming corridors, tunnels, and temporary chambers.

These formations are not visible in real time; they only become clear when the ice is recorded at the threshold of disappearance. The images therefore depict a world in motion, yet suspended — a moment between collapse and memory.

‘Fluid Cross-Section’ 시리즈는 얼음이 단단함을 잃기 시작할 때,

표면 아래 드러나는 내부의 논리를 기록한다.

이 작업은 완전히 얼어붙은 형태가 아니라,

물이 흘러가며 스스로 구조를 재편하는 순간을 단면처럼 절개한 장면이다.

얼음의 내부에서는 색이 지층처럼 이동하고,

물은 팽창과 수축을 반복하며 통로·터널·빈 공간을 만든다.

이 움직임은 실제 시간에서는 거의 보이지 않지만,

녹아 사라지는 경계에서만 뚜렷하게 드러난다.
