《The Sense of Exception: Threads, Ice, and the Map of Oblivion》

KiMi Art is pleased to present The Sense of Exception: Threads, Ice, and the Map of

Oblivion, a solo exhibition by visual artist Marknsol. This exhibition brings together a

series of works exploring the boundaries of presence and absence, sacrifice and silence,

in an era governed by data, prediction, and invisible control.

Marknsol’s practice is rooted in philosophical and political inquiry, translated into visual forms through mixed media, photography, and installation. In this new body of work, the artist focuses on the concept of the “exception”—those who are systematically excluded, erased, or silenced under algorithmic logic and social structures.

Using metaphorical materials such as thread, ice, and fragments, the exhibition questions how invisible systems (AI, surveillance, institutional power) entangle the human body and memory. The frozen stillness that pervades the work speaks not of emotional absence, but of forced silence—where the sacrificial subject is no longer punished publicly, but quietly removed from social recognition.

Far from a space of mourning, this exhibition acts as a sensor for future exclusions. It

challenges viewers to reconsider the roles we play in systems of erasure:

Whose place have we taken? Who is freezing in silence while we remain warm?

전시 서문:

예외의 감각: 실, 얼음, 잊힘의 지도

우리는 눈에 보이지 않는 실들에 의해 엮인다. 데이터는 감정을 대체하고, 추천 알고리즘

은 기억의 지도를 다시 쓴다. 마크앤솔의 작업은 이 보이지 않는 세계, 혹은 ‘시스템의

논리’가 인간의 삶을 어떻게 재구성하는지를 감각적으로 고발한다. 이 전시는 얼어붙은

시간, 말할 수 없는 침묵, 그리고 되돌릴 수 없는 상실의 잔해들로 구성된, 하나의 감각

적 아카이브다.

이 작업에서 실은 더 이상 따뜻한 연결의 매개가 아니다. 그것은 누구인지도 모르는 주

체에 의해 엮여진 망, 곧 자유의 착각을 조용히 포박하는 감각적 장치다. 작가는 직접 그

실을 다시 손에 쥐고, 무형의 코드 위에 인간의 흔들림을 덧입힌다. 균일하고 매끄러운

표면을 거부하는 물성의 선택은, 기계적 논리로 환원되지 않는 몸의 기억과 감각의 저항

을 말한다.

‘희생’은 이 전시의 핵심 어휘다. 그러나 이 희생은 더 이상 광장의 돌팔매질이나 격렬한

처벌로 나타나지 않는다. 그것은 ‘익명성과 무관심의 냉기’ 속에서 서서히 얼어붙는 존재

들, 법의 경계에 서 있는 이들, 감정이 제거된 채 반복적으로 소외되는 이들을 의미한다.

이 전시의 얼음은 그런 희생의 형상이다. 열이 사라진 세계에서 감정의 온기를 되살리는

불씨, 그것이 예술의 몫이라면, 작가는 그 온기를 결코 직선적으로 회복하려 하지 않는

다. 오히려 얼어붙은 감정을 조각내어, 그것을 다시 들여다보게 만든다.

《예외의 감각》은 애도의 공간이 아니다. 이것은 다가올 희생자를 감지하는 감각기관이

며, 인간 존재가 시스템 속에서 어떻게 예외로 호출되는지를 기록하는 지도다. 우리는 누

구의 자리를 대신 차지하고 있는가? 나는 어떤 좌표에서 타인의 기억으로 존재하는가?

이 전시는 기술과 냉기, 그리고 기억의 잔해 사이에서 ‘살아있되 존재하지 않는’ 존재들

을 다시 불러낸다. 그리고 그 예외의 감각을, 우리 자신의 감각 위에 묻는다.
